Overture

Although I often used the piano to test concepts for the work, only the overture has an actual piano version. The above link is of me performing the overture at a concert a few years ago. Unfortunately, there are a couple of errors, most except for one are not too bad - the stage lights were right in my eyes and the lip on the piano lid was not folded down so I bumped it several times while turning the pages and the seat was too high. I made mental notes of that for next time. I like the performance as it illustrates my concept of how it should be performed, particularly the variable tempos including heavy rubato. The piano music is below and is intended to be printed using both sides of the paper and page turns have been formatted to be as convenient as possible.

Second Movement

I developed all of the movements in my mind as writing was impractical. The second movement was the first one completed. I made a piano recording of it to serve as documentation that would enable me to write it years later into the MIDI program, Cakewalk that in conjunction with my Korg synthesizer enabled me to hear it with simple orchestration. That version is true to the piano version with only a few subtle changes. The short fragment was added perhaps a year later. The Cakewalk file was a stepping stone to the complete orchestration I did years later using Finale.

Fourth Movement

The fourth movement was the second movement completed in my mind. I made the following piano recording for documentation. This was used years later in 2003 when I entered the notes into the MIDI program, Cakewalk, for a simple orchestra on my Korg synthesizer. That file became the basis for the full orchestration years later using Finale. The skills required to play that on piano were beyond me so I did the best I could.
